18/12/2008 | Under 11 Cricket with John Cox North’s won the toss deciding to bat first making the locals spend some time in the field. The bowling has certainly improved and is a lot tighter making it harder for the visitors to score runs.
18/12/2008 | This week saw another close week in the midweek golf scores, again there were two winners and they both collect a $15 voucher at the club.
18/12/2008 | With Christmas coming and numerous other things happening, the ladies golf crew were a bit light on Wednesday. We only had five ladies tee up to play a stroke with and a putting comp. The winner on the day (after a lot of complaining about how bad she played) was Donna White with 73 net.
A Celebration of Bowls
18/12/2008 | The Guyra Annual Bowls Carnival is a weeklong event and is supported by bowlers from far and wide. To kick-start the proceedings the ladies held an Open Triples tournament, with 20 teams of lady bowlers competing for the prize money.
18/12/2008 | The Guyra Rugby Club is gaining momentum as it heads towards next season. The Guyra Rugby Club AGM was held last week and as a result a committee was formed and plans were made to make 2009 the best season for many years.
18/12/2008 | Congratulations to John Oehlers on becoming the Super Spuds first grade coach. Co coaches for Reserve grade are Mick Wilson and Steve Wilson with Jeff Richardson again taking on coaching the Spudettes Oztag team.
18/12/2008 | No golf was played last Sunday, but we had two teams of golfers travel to play pennants at Delungra. All in all we had a great day and the team at the Delungra golf club went out of their way to put on a great day for us and we thank them very much for the day and the wonderful lunch.
Veterans year to remember
18/12/2008 | Golf on Tuesday, December 9 again took the form of an 18 hole stableford event playing the back nine holes twice because of the ongoing work on the front nine with the watering system.

18/12/2008 | Well what a great day of golf we had last Sunday, 126 golfers turned up to play in the Business Challenge Ambrose. Great prizes were donated by mixed businesses in Guyra and we thank all businesses for there kind support on the day.
18/12/2008 | A keen group of 48 shooters contested Guyra Gun Club’s Christmas Shoot on Saturday 13 December. The rain and cool weather failed to quench the thirst for hams and other trophies that were on offer.
18/12/2008 | Monday December 8,Bertha Reeves, Betty Roirdan, Betty Butler attended the last District meeting for 2008 at Armidale. President Myra Smith wished all bowlers in the district a happy Christmas and good bowling in the New Year.
Caspers end season on high
8/12/2008 | Guyra Soccer Club celebrated their second year as club champions at their annual presentation night on Saturday November 29.
8/12/2008 | There was no golf played last Saturday or Sunday due to the down pour of rain on Friday so both open events were cancelled. The two pennant teams travelling to Delungra this Sunday the bus will be leaving at 7.00am sharp from the club.
8/12/2008 | A good field of nineteen golfers gathered on Tuesday, November 25 to contest a stableford event. The back nine holes were played twice because the front nine was closed with work proceeding on the laying of the new watering system.
8/12/2008 | The pool is now fully up and running with numbers slightly up from last year. It is good to see swimming lessons back at the Guyra pool and there is also a learn to swim program in the school holidays.
8/12/2008 | In great Spring weather, around twenty-nine shooters contested the Single Barrel Continental Championship and other events at Guyra Gun Club’s Clay Target shoot on November 29.
1/12/2008 | Saturday Bowls saw a resumed game played between C Kliendienst and M Rusden. On a windy day, it came down to who handled it better, the scores were only one’s and two’s mostly, and a couple of other’s came in to the count.
1/12/2008 | On our first outing to Armidale this year the boys faced up against CSC Under 10’s. It is these boys first year of cricket.
