Wednesday afternoon saw a number of bowlers take to the green, and in the wash up the winners for the day were Normie, Anthony and Philly.
Twilight Bowls were played on Wednesday evening again a good roll-up was witnessed. Unsure of what actually happened, as insufficient cards and info to go with.
Club matches were then contested on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, we will start one and progress to four.
In Minor Singles, Evan Sole and Eric Heagney went out to do battle. Evan jumped to take a handy lead of 7-1, only to have Eric claw his way back to trail 5-7. Evan (Sole heartedly) took control, stringing together 12 ends, to run out a convincing victor.
Club triples were next with M Bull, A Bull and B Presnell up against A Youman, W Reeves and B Walls. The animals (Bull, Bull and Moose) stampeded to a lead of 14-3. Joel, Donk, and Pizzle came back a tad, but in finish it was Matt, Anthony and Barry scoring a win by 28-20.
Another game of triples was also being played this was between D Butler, F Kennedy and A Butler, versus A Sparke, B Sole and C Kliendienst. Dave Fred and Anthony came out firing, to have handy lead of 11-3. Andrew, Braden and Chris came back to trail 10-11, only to see Anthony and co stretch the lead to 16-10. With all three, drawing close, Chris and team put seven ends together to take a stranglehold leading 33-16. This enabled them to gain a victory, to the tune of 34-19.
Club Fours were the last of the day, with P Johnson, B Campbell, J Jackson and S Campbell pitted against T Kennedy, E Kennedy, Dave Kennedy and C Stanley. Again a lopsided start with Scott and team opening up a lead of 14-4. Col and his band, came back to be behind 14-9, Frog, Jacko, Snout and Porky, jumped again to eventually run out winners by 23-13.
Sunday was Singles day, in Minor Singles J Souter played L Adams. Logan took off to lead 5-1, only to see James come back to lead 8-6. This was where Logo steamed ahead like a “LoGomotive’ and derailed the ‘Ground Hog’ winning 31-14.
Handicap Singles saw D Smith take on N Wilson, with Norm coming from the ‘Old School’ and Dale from the newer, this was going to be a game of wits. With ‘Teach’ Dale knowing his maths he summed up the situation, overcoming ‘Stormin’ Norman to the tune of 31-18.
In Major Singles D Wilcox and M Bull took to the carpet. After ten ends David was leading 10-8, Matthew clawed his way back to even the ledger at 18-18. Matthew again lead 24-18 after 23, David, again came back 23-24 down. Matthew, BC (short for Bull Calf) the closed it out defeating ‘Free Willy’ 31-23.
Championship Bowls set down for Saturday November 22 with a 1.30pm star, the starter is A Sparke, Umpire J Souter.
