Around twenty-five shooters contested the Champion of Champions and other events at Guyra Gun Club’s Clay Target shoot on August 30.
The Champion of Champions, so named because it is a medley of Double Barrel, Single Barrel and Point Score, was won by Brad Henshall (49/50). AA Grade went to Dale Ellis (48/50) and Shane Farrell shot 67/75 after a shoot off, to win A Grade. Wayne Johnson took B Grade with 47/50 and John Knight shot 41/50 to win C Grade.
Earlier the Handicap Club Trophy was also won by Bernie Mackson (26/27) from Geoff Baxter (25/27) and Warren Clark (24/26).
Ten pair of Double Rise saw Geoff Baxter record 18/20 to be the best of the AA Grade group. Brad Henshall shot 17/20. A Grade was won by Shane Farrell with 17/20 from Jeff Richardson (17/20.) B Grade went to Clint Harrison with a score of 17/20 and in second place was Wayne Johnson with 16/20.Graeme Armour took C Grade with 15/20 and John Knight recorded 10/20 to claim second place.
The final event was ten pair of the teams event known as Deauville Doubles. Geoff Field and Geoff Baxter were victorious from Warren Lasker and David Casbolt.
The day’s High Gun belonged to the ever consistent Brad Henshall with 116/120.
Meanwhile, Guyra club member Tim Bourke continues his rise through the ranks of ISSF shooters (the Olympic Discipline.) In early August, at the NSW ISSF titles held at Cecil Park in Sydney’s west, he was selected in the NSW junior team (u21) as the No 1 shooter. Additionally, he was the No 3 shooter in Open Division. Bourke will represent NSW at the National Championships in January 2009.
Guyra next shoots on Sun 14 September with 5 Stand and Skeet at 12.00 noon. On Saturday 27 September, Trench or Novelty events will be held at 10.00am, prior to the DTL events including the Continental Championships at 12.30 pm.
