With only two teams left in the competition for the year they both flew the Super Spud flag extremely proudly on the weekend in the minor semi final in Uralla.

Under 18’s

On Saturday the Junior Spuds travelled to Uralla to play Armidale in the minor Semi Final.

Guyra started the best they have all year and showed great commitment and energy and went to half time leading 10-0.

The second half wasn’t any different and Guyra won 26-10 with tries to Demielle Landsborough, Steve Everleigh, Blake Keeping, Mick Dittman and Blake Waters.

It was the best best the Junior Spuds have played all year the but the job isn’t done yet.

Guyra play inverell at Tingha starting at 11.15 Sunday we would like to see as many supporters as we can. Bus leaves 9.30am from the Royal Hotel.

Presidents Cup

Guyra’s Presidents Cup side travelled to Uralla on Saturday to take on the Uralla Tigers in the minor semi final. With a fast start to the game the defence was strong and we looked good early. With out having too much ball silly penalties crept in to the game and before long we were 18 nil down. One minute before half time Al Davis crossed for our first try and Cody Patterson converted to take us to the half time break trailing 18 - 6.

After a team decision to pull our fingers out we flew out of the blocks scoring in the first set if six. This got everyone switched on and before too long it was 22 all with five minutes left on the clock. A sweet drop goal from Tom (super) Starr put us in front 23 - 22. We then had to defend like our lives depended on it and we managed to hold them out, pleasing a very proud coach. The final score being 23 -22. Try scorers were Rod Lawler, Tom Starr, Al Davis, Roy McClure. Cody Patterson 3 goals and Tom Starr field goal.

We now take on a good Tingha side this Sunday in Tingha. We will have to be switched on in another do or die game. GO REGGIES.

Best of luck to both our sides this Sunday keep flying the Super Spud flag with pride.

Committee meeting next Monday night 7pm at the Royal Hotel.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
